Neighborhood Districts
The previous two sections were part of the old “Concept Los Angeles” plan, but from here on forward we are discussing the new sub-categories of The Framework Element.
Neighborhood districts are the most intimate of the residential centers supporting a population of 15,000 to 25,000 residents. [2] Their purpose is to provide easy walking accessibility to every day amenities. These amenities include, restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, drug stores, childcare, religious buildings, and more. [2] Typically these daily needs are found in a shopping complex one to two stories tall with a single large store being the center attraction and many smaller stores surrounding it. The idea is too have everything close enough to residential living so that people choose to walk reducing vehicular traffic and emissions. [2] An example is Larchmont Village shown in the picture below.
