General Commercial Areas
Commercial areas are comprised of retail, offices, and automotive business not within residential areas and outside of neighborhood, community, and regional centers. Commercial areas are found along the crossing of major and secondary highways in low-density areas of the city connecting different neighborhoods together. Examples can be thought of as strip malls and other low height buildings along a secondary highway. [2]
Mixed-Use Boulevards
Mixed-use boulevards, which are comprised of commercial and residential areas are the connecting link between neighborhood, community, and regional centers. [4] Many of the centers previously mentioned tend to grow in clusters around a focal point. To connect these centers, the Framework Elements objective is to improve this space with mixed-use boulevards. The improvements the Framework Element are interested in can be described by three items. The three items are, transportation support such as automotive businesses, strip malls, and redevelopment of rundown mixed-used boulevard corridors into housing and commercial needs. [4] The objective is to be a mixture of commodities and provide a network between neighboring centers.
